Lee Jin-Hyang

Lee Soo-Kyung
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine whether social supports moderate the relationship between symptom and life satisfaction among persons with mental illness. Secondary data of 58,459 individuals with mental illness from the ¡°2011 Disabled survey¡± by Ministry of Health and Welfare was analyzed. Hierarchical moderated multiple regression was used to assess the moderating effect of social supports on the relationship between symptom and life satisfaction. Findings showed that social support interacts with symptoms and influences life satisfaction among persons with mental illness. Results also suggested that social support has a buffering effect against symptoms associated with life satisfaction. Implication and limitations of this study are discussed.
